M-Sand is an alternative to river sand for construction
What is M-Sand?
Manufactured Sand or (M-Sand) is an alternative to river sand for the concrete construction of a project. Manufactured sand is produced by crushing stone from hard granite. The crushed sand is of a cubicle in shape with rounded edges, washed & graded to as a construction material. The size of manufactured sand is about 0.1mm to 4.75mm. As we all know Sand is the most important material in the field of construction. M Sand is formed by crushing rocks, pebbles, or granite for any construction. M Sand is specially used for concrete aims. We can say that Manufactured Sand is a good alternative to river sand. There is a reason why M Sand is a very good substitute for river sand because of its physical and mineralogical properties. As we can see, day by day use of river sand in the construction line causes the depletion in the groundwater table. That’s why many scientists and organizations recommended using M Sand in comparison to river sand. So, that the groundwater cycle gets balanced and prevents it from getting dried up.
Manufactured Sand vs River Sand
Superior Strength: Manufactured Sand has higher compressive strength. Due to the natural process sand particles are rounded, On the other hand, M Sand particles are angular and have a rougher surface texture, which is allowing better bonding with the mortar in concrete, which provides improved strength properties.
Better Workability: M-Sand is graded with quality and consistency thus it has higher Fineness sand compared to natural sand and crusher dust. It will give better workability for concrete and masonry.
Lesser Cement Consumption: M-Sand is free of impurities such as dust, and silt and has close particle packing than natural sand particles thereby reducing the voids in aggregate and hence saving cement requirement in concrete production.
Readily Available: Manufactured Sand can be produced near the construction sites, which reduces transportation costs, and consistent supply for demanded quantity can be assured. and river sand obtain naturally from the river so the location is permanent and transportation charges increase
Eco-friendly-The obtaining of river sand has led to many environmental effects like erosion of riverbeds and banks and is damaging to the natural eco-system. Manufactured Sand is eco-friendly and obtained from a sustainable resource for construction purposes.
Why is Manufactured Sand Used?
Manufactured sand is an alternative to river sand. Due to M Sand's fast-growing construction industry. The demand for M Sand for construction has increased incredibly. It causes a lack of suitable river sand in most parts of the world. Nowadays we can see the shortage of good quality river sand for the use of construction which is why the use of manufactured sand has been increased. There is another reason for the M-Sand to become popular because of its availability & transportation costs become less. So M-Sand can be crushed from extremely hard granite rocks. So, it can be easily readily available at the nearby place of construction. The reduction of the cost of transportation from far away from the river bed. In this way, the cost of construction can be handled by the use of manufactured sand as a substitute material for construction. The second best advantage of using M Sand is, it can be free from dust. The sizes of manufactured sand can be managed easily. So that M Sand can meet the required grading for the given construction work.
M-Sand is manufactured by putting hard stones of different sizes to primary and secondary crushers Jaw crushers and Cone crushers. Due to the size reduction, these crushed stones are further crushed in Vertical Shaft Impact= ( VSI ) crusher to lessen the particle size to that of sand. It is crushed by unique design & action of attrition produces well-shaped fine aggregate particles that are cubicle & angular in shape. This attrition process is also benefits to reducing the surface roughness of the sharp aggregate particles to some level. In the production procedure, it is to make sure that sand stockpiles are not contaminated with weathered. There is highly altered rock or with clay & other contaminants. By Crushing, the various source of rocks into a single sand stockpile is also not be permitted. Unless it can be demonstrated that such a process is under blending control & produces a consistent product.
Conclusion
Hence, M sand can be effectively used in Construction as a replacement for River Sand. And to preserve the Waterbodies for the future, and to Promote Eco-friendly construction processes. In the end, we can say that the use of manufactured sand is beneficial in comparison to river sand.
